10 New Guides: Quiet Harbour Suburbs & Two Honest Big-Trip Calls

This update: North Sydney and the eastern harbour suburbs, the Powerhouse Museum, Lakemba's food scene, and honest takes on Canberra and Windsor.

Updated 2026-09-22 Updates

What's new this week

Ten more guides, including two of the more honest "should you actually do this" calls we've written yet:

Neighbourhoods: North Sydney & Kirribilli (the view back at the city, plus the Prime Minister's Sydney residence) and Rose Bay & Double Bay (Sydney's quiet old money, seaplanes included).

Things to do: The Powerhouse Museum's genuinely huge applied arts and science collection, and the Manly Scenic Walkway — the calmer, greener alternative to the Bondi to Coogee walk.

Food & drink: Lakemba's Haldon Street, one of the best and most underrated food strips in the city, and a high tea guide that's honest about when it's worth the price and when it isn't.

Day trips: Canberra and Windsor/Hawkesbury — both get a genuinely candid recommendation on day trip versus overnight, rather than just assuming everyone should attempt them in a single rushed day.

Practical info: Shopping and business hours, and a dedicated solo travellers' guide.

Nearly 100 guides

We've now passed 90 guides and are closing in on 100. The plan remains the same: keep the spread even, keep the recommendations honest, and keep publishing two to three times a week. Thanks for sticking with us this far — get in touch any time with what you'd like to see next.
